Dr. William R. Yant
Dr. Yant has been practicing dentistry since 1992. He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1988 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1992.
Dr. Yant has completed extensive hours of continuing education over the years, accomplishing courses in advanced dentistry at The Dawson Academy and the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed a surgical implant externship with the Midwest Implant Institute and West Virginia University in 1997.
Since graduation from dental school, Dr. Yant has been a member and leader in various professional dental associations including the American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has held the positions of Trustee, Delegate, Vice President, and President for the Allegany-Garrett Dental Society. He received the New Dentist Leadership Award in 1998 from the Maryland State Dental Association.
In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Yant has donated his time and dental services to such worthwhile community projects as the Western Maryland Mission of Mercy (which provides free dental services to those in need) and acted as an in-school health educator for tobacco use prevention. Dr. Yant has been named the Dental Director for Garrett County’s Mountain Laurel Medical Center and has developed a program to monitor the effects of comprehensive dental care on diabetic patients.
Dr. Yant is also a busy and valued participant in the dental community, acting as a Key Opinion Leader for a leading dental equipment company, Planmeca. He developed and presents a lecture series – “CBCT-Dental Cat Scan Technology Beyond the Dental Implant”– to other dental practitioners and dental supply personnel, and his office is currently using a new implant placement guidance system called X-Guide.
He has also been a trainer for CEREC crown technology for Patterson Dental company over the years and has trained multiple offices on this technology over an 11 year period.
Dr. Yant is dedicated to his profession and continually strives to learn cutting-edge technology and advanced techniques so he may provide the greatest care to his patients. Dr. Yant enjoys focusing on implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and full-mouth rehabilitation.
Dr. Yant and his wife, Lori, have lived in Garrett County since 1992 and they have two daughters, Kristen and Jillian. They enjoy hiking with their dogs and snowboarding. When he is not spending time with his family, or practicing the dental arts, Dr. Yant enjoys his other artistic interest – pottery.
Dr. Timothy Longest
Dr. Longest received his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, from which he was awarded his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).
Never happy with “good enough,” Dr. Longest has continued his education for over 25 years, earning over 1,200 continuing education hours. He has attended The Dawson Academy and completed the full series of courses for advanced dentistry emphasizing function and esthetics, as well as SPEAR education and Cranham training.
Dr. Longest has also concentrated on studies in the field of orthodontics, completing his orthodontic courses in 2003 with the Faculty for Orthodontic Research and Continuing Education. He is a certified Preferred Provider for Invisalign.
Dr. Longest is a member of the American Dental Association and is active in the local component, the Allegany-Garrett County Dental Society. He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Longest lives with his wife, Denise, and their two children. Dr. Longest has had the privilege of coaching boys and girls high school soccer teams the last several years while his kids have played, and continues to help coach even though his kids have moved on to college. When not on the soccer field, he may be seen jogging around the neighborhood or playing golf.
Dr. Elaine R. Allen
Born and raised in Bedford, PA, Dr. Allen graduated from Bedford High School and attended Allegany College of Maryland where she studied dental assisting and hygiene. After graduation, she practiced hygiene with Drs. Yant and Longest until, with Dr. Yant’s encouragement, she returned to school to become a dentist.
She attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and received the senior dental student award from the International College of Dentists. Dr. Allen graduated from dental school in 2002 with a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD), and stayed in Pittsburgh practicing dentistry for seven years before returning to Garrett County to rejoin Drs. Yant and Longest in 2010 where she enjoys practicing general dentistry and building lasting relationships with her patients. She is a member of the American Dental Association and Allegany-Garrett County Dental Society.
Married to Bob, an attorney in Garrett County, with whom she has twin daughters Maddie and Katie, Dr. Allen loves spending time outdoors with her family. She enjoys skiing, exercising, whitewater sports, reading, and volunteering for Mission of Mercy.
